Vitreoretinal Surgery

What is Vitreoretinal Surgery?

Vitreoretinal Surgery is a type of eye surgery that treats problems with the retina, the thin layer of tissue at the back of the eye responsible for sending visual signals to the brain. The most common reason for vitreoretinal Surgery is to treat a retinal detachment, which occurs when the retina pulls away from the back of the eye. Surgery also treats other conditions, such as macular holes, diabetic retinopathy, and age-related macular degeneration.
